Web browsing on the Apple TV

To us, the Apple TV has always come across a crippled product. Whether this is due the lack of content, features or in it's latest rendition, storage, Steveo's self-confessed hobby project has never really captured much attention as 'just another set-top box'. However, another iOS device means another iOS Jailbreak, and this time round Fire Core are bringing web surfing and Last.fm to the big A's second generation little black box.

Judging by their video demos, these big-screen mods look pretty slick, and we'd hope so too as this ain't free software folks! $49 is the asking price for first-gen aTVs, with second generation prices yet to be announced. Read on for the all important show-off vids.

iPhone Dev Team's RedSn0w 0.9

The self proclaimed 'iPhone Dev Team' are well and truly back in the game with the release of RedSn0w 0.9 Beta for OSX and Windows. The latest version allows nearly all generations of Apple iPhone/iPod Touch to Jailbreak, Unlock and customize the most recent 3.0/3.1.2 firmware.

The 'nearly' is due to the 'Beta', which is currently unable to support third generation iPod Touches, a niggle that is said to be fixed with the full RedSn0w release.

BT Stack Connects Apple's Magic Mouse To The iPhone

We've always been exited by the concept of using a Bluetooth keyboard with the iPhone, and in recent weeks the Cydia application 'BTstack' has allowed jailbroken 3G/3GS users to do just this.

Now, the same guys that build the latter have developed the driver code to allow Apple's new Magic Mouse to interact with the iPhone. After pairing the mouse to your device via Bluetooth you can seamlessly navigate through the iPhone's UI the same way you would with your finger, but with a responsive Apple cursor instead.
