Skype in 720p via LG's infinia

As promised here are the first pictures of a Skype enabled HDTV at CES. The set in question is LG's LCD Infinia, a setup of 'dazzling' quality and the first TV seen live to boast Skype's service. The live calling itself has been dubbed as 'satisfactory' based on usability and UI, although perhaps not best living up to Skype's high expectations for user experience.

It must be said this isn't the most ground-breaking app design we've seen this year either, however this is subject to change and for a first attempt at topping Cisco, it's not a bad one.

The kings of voip!

Today Skype have announced they're plans for rolling out their free video-calling service for HDTVs, which will bring true 720p live video conferencing to your living room. The company are looking to put their class-leading app on a wide range on TVs including Panasonic's 2010 Viera Cast and LG's 26inch LCD and plasma sets.

Skype claim their latest Windows version will provide this service when coupled with a HD webcam and 1.8Ghz of power. We're expecting to see these cameras in question at this years CES for a taste of things to come.
